One of the most exciting milestones a new plant parent reaches is when there is enough growth on one of their plants to try their hand at propagating! There are a few popular methods for achieving this.
Cuttings
Propagating plants from leaf cuttings is achieved by snipping a stem just below a node and rooting it, either in water or soil. When making the chop, you will want to ensure there are 3-4 good leaves on the stem.
Harvesting Pups
A pup is an offshoot of a new plant, attached to the “mother plant”. When your pup has grown to roughly ⅓ the size of the mother plant, you can chop it off and plant it. You may want to dip your pup in a rooting powder before planting it into a small pot of soil.
