The tricolor version of the Wandering Jew, or Tradescantia Fluminensis, is an amazing find! The delicate pinks and lighter areas bring a beautiful burst of visual texture to any plant collection.
A ground-cover plant in its natural state, this plant can grow to cover the area of soil that you give it - or, popularly, you can hang it and let it drape down. Produces small clusters of white three-petaled flowers in the summer.
Propagate easily by placing a cutting with a node at the bottom and allowing to root.
Lighting: Medium to bright indirect
Water: When ~2/3 of the soil is dry and very sparing in Winter (just enough to avoid complete dry out). Take care to avoid overwatering.
Soil/Potting: Plant in a moderately draining soil in a container with a drainage hole and made of slightly porous material like ceramic. Repot annually or when plant exhibits discoloration without the presence of any mis-watering habits
Fertilize: Monthly with bacterial inoculant recomended for steady growth and to promote flowering
Temperature: Room temp, protect from harsh fluctuations in temperature particularly in the winter
Toxicity: Non-toxic for humans and pets; still definitely not tasty..
