Snake Plant 'Fernwood'
Did you know that there are over 70 known species of snake plant? Recently, Sansevieria have been reclassified as members of the Dracaenea family. Regardless of their classification, snake plants (or mother-in-law's tongue) are forgiving and striking house plants - a must for any beginner!
Pictured here is the 'Fernwood' variety. As a younger plant the leaves have a plump crescent mood shaped cross section, but as it ages these leaves will mature into full cylinders!
Sansevieria are lovers of warmth and bright indirect light but are best known by their unique ability to withstand a wide range of light and temperature conditions including dim and cool (not too cold though). Water only when the soil is very dry - in the winter it can be as much as 8 weeks between waterings!
