Ficus rust leaf is a wonderfully relaxing plant experience, especially in the world of ficus. It's forgiving enough that it's frequently the very first plant one makes into a bonsai when learning!
Outdoors, this plant can grow up to a hundred feet; indoors, this plant will stay in the range of 6-8 feet when fully grown. It has a very soft wood with bark that never gets that old, mottled appearance, and its leaves have a fun, directionless look once the foliage fills all the way in.
Lighting: Bright indirect light.
Water: Allow to dry out slightly between waterings, but be careful not to let it dry out completely. Once a week waterings do well with this plant.
Soil/Potting: Plant in a well draining soil in a container with a drainage hole and made of slightly porous material like ceramic or sealed concrete. Repot annually or when plant exhibits discoloration without the presence of any mis-watering habits.
Fertilize: Monthly with bacterial inoculant recommended for steady growth and to promote richer coloration in the foliage.
Temperature: Room temp (55-85 degrees is ideal), protect from harsh fluctuations in temperature particularly in the winter. Do not place near vents, doors, or other areas with very active air flows.
Toxicity: This plant is toxic to humans and pets.
