Maranta Leuconeura, a member of the Marantaceae family (cousin to Calatheas), have beautifully patterned foliage that can elevate your urban jungle homes. Native to Brazil and formally documented by Bartolomeo Maranta.
The cool thing about Maranta is that they have highly photosensitive leaves. Their leaves lay flat in the morning to absorb sunlight and fold up in the evening as if the plant was praying. Hence, the common name, “Prayer plant”.
