Tineke Rosa Rubber Tree

(Listing for Plant Only, Shop Pots and Planters)

Strong | Lovely | Unyielding

The rubber tree, or Ficus Elastica, is a source of naturally occuring latex in all parts of the plant. While this can't be used commercially to make rubber, it does mean that it's a very interesting plant to add to your collection!

The large, dark leaves grow steadily upwards and outwards, eventually forming a tree shape if allowed to grow to a very large size. The leaves are very rigid, and new leaves are shiny before turning matte as they mature. In nature, this plant can grow to be up to 200 feet tall!

Propagate easily by placing a cutting into water and allow to root.

Lighting: Bright indirect to direct

Water: Drought tolerant but prefers humidity. Water regularly and with consistency, allowing the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Mist frequently.

Soil/Potting: Plant in a rich, organic soil in a container with a drainage hole and made of slightly porous material like ceramic. Repot annually or when plant exhibits discoloration without the presence of any mis-watering habits

Fertilize: Monthly with bacterial inoculant recomended for steady growth and to promote flowering

Temperature: Room temp, protect from harsh fluctuations in temperature particularly in the winter. Do not allow to get hot. Keep away from vents.

Toxicity: Only mildly toxic for humans, toxic to dogs and cats if ingested.
